Challenger Learning Center
This hands-on science, math and technology learning center, located on the campus of Wheeling Jesuit University, launches children and adults into new learning adventures with space flight simulations and innovative weekend, summer and corporate programming. Visits by reservation only.
This three-story, 16-room inn built in 1848 provided lodging for travelers and cattle drovers. Today, it provides lodging and home-cooked buffets.

The Palace of Gold
Constructed by the New Vrindaban Spiritual Community, the palace has 10 rooms elaborately decorated with more than 40 varieties of imported marble and onyx. Dubbed "America's Taj Mahal" by the New York Times, the palace includes the Palace Garden Restaurant and the Court of Roses gardens.

West Virginia Penitentiary Tours
Visit the first territorial prison in West Virginia, constructed in 1866. Walk through Alamo Cell Block, where the worst of the inmates were housed 22 hours a day. Marvel over the beautiful murals painted by inmates.

Wheeling Suspension Bridge
Constructed in 1849, this bridge was the longest single span suspension bridge in the world and the first bridge over the Ohio River. Following the bridge's 1854 collapse, its original cables were reused and continue to support the recently-restored structure. Considered the most important pre-Civil War civil engineering structure in the US.
